The Opportunity
James Hardie is looking for a Shift Electrician to provide maintenance support to the manufacturing plant. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager and involves executing electrical maintenance and breakdown support to ensure plant equipment operates safely and reliably.
Shift
Rotating roster, 4 on 4 off (2 days/2 nights) 12-hour shifts.
What You'll Do
* Completing maintenance jobs to the satisfaction of internal customers, including but not limited to:
o Making or marking up drawings of electrical circuits
o Removing or installing pieces of equipment
o Performing online preventative maintenance inspections of machinery
o Fault finding and diagnosing breakdowns on machinery
o Replacing sensors, limit switches, checking/changing PLC code, checking drive parameters
o Changing any electrical components such as motors, cables, plugs, switches, sensors, lights, etc.
o Carrying out minor tasks outside of scope of role, such as assisting fitters or operators – this is expected for any support person
o Resetting overloads on equipment and investigating cause of repeat overloads
o Replacing electrical circuitry (e.g., wiring, contactors, fuses, relays, etc.) inside electrical panels
o Completing safety forms such as JSA or CTW
o Re-designing electrical circuits to improve effectiveness (must be approved by Engineer)
* Assisting with identifying and implementing plant performance improvement opportunities.
* Ensuring that operations comply with Work Health and Safety requirements.
* Complying with safety requests, including attending training and health-safety initiatives, and ensuring no risk to staff.
What You'll Bring
* Electrical Trade Certificate or higher qualification.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a heavy process manufacturing environment.
* Experience with industrial control systems such as PLCs for diagnostic troubleshooting.
* Servo drive (SEW) and DC motor experience – troubleshooting and program changing.
* Aptitude for hands-on work coupled with fault-finding and strong problem-solving skills.
* Commitment to personal safety through following James Hardie's safety vision.
Highly Desirable but Not Essential
* Forklift licence.
* EWP licence.
* High Voltage training.
* SAP experience.
