The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a well‐established industrial processing facility in Sydney. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will become a key member of the site engineering team, responsible for maintaining plant reliability, reducing downtime and supporting production through effective preventative and corrective maintenance practices.
This is a hands‐on role suited to a trade‐qualified Electrician or Maintenance Fitter who enjoys working in a fast‐paced production environment and takes pride in keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of equipment maintenance, including fault diagnosis, breakdown response, preventative maintenance, equipment upgrades, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Whilst an Electrical Trade qualification is preferred, applications are welcomed from experienced Maintenance Fitters who possess strong industrial maintenance experience and a proven track record in manufacturing or processing environments.
Please note: Candidates undertaking electrical work must hold a current Unrestricted NSW Electrical Licence. This is a mandatory requirement for applicants seeking consideration as an Electrician within the maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform preventative maintenance on plant, machinery and production equipment
* Respond to equipment breakdowns and carry out fault‐finding activities
* Conduct repairs and modifications to improve equipment reliability and performance
* Support plant start‐up and shutdown procedures
* Assist in minimising downtime and maximising production efficiency
* Diagnose electrical, mechanical and pneumatic faults
* Complete maintenance documentation and reporting accurately
* Manage and maintain spare parts inventory where required
* Participate in risk assessments and safety improvement initiatives
* Support continuous improvement, LEAN manufacturing and 5S activities
* Work closely with production teams to ensure equipment operates safely and effectively
* Liaise with contractors and equipment suppliers when required
About You
To be considered for this opportunity you will possess:
Essential
* Trade qualification as an Electrician or Maintenance Fitter
* Current Unrestricted NSW Electrical Licence (Electrician applicants only)
* Previous experience in an industrial maintenance environment
* Strong fault‐finding and troubleshooting skills
* Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals
* Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Full Australian working rights
Highly Regarded
* Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food processing, packaging, laundry, logistics or automated production environments
* Exposure to motors, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, sensors and automated equipment
* PLC fault‐finding experience
* Forklift Licence
* Boiler Licence
* Experience working with CMMS or maintenance management systems
* Exposure to LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
