About the Summer Vacation Program
At Thiess, we invest in future talent and provide vacation students with exposure to a world of experience and expertise. Our Summer Vacation Programoffers you the opportunity to gain real life experience on an operational open cut coal mine, as part of our structured, 12-week paid program. You will gain valuable experience working on site and for some roles, experience living in remote and regional locations. Build your networks and relationships early in your career by working with experienced industry leaders.
The 2025/2026 Thiess Vacation Program has opportunities in the following disciplines for 2 nd and 3 rd year students:
* Mechanical Engineering
* Mechatronics Engineering
* Electrical Engineering
* Surveying
* Geology/Geotech
About You
* Completing 2 nd or 3 rd year at university
* Studying a degree within one of the above disciplines
* Willing to work and relocate to site for the duration of the program
* Available to work for the entire 12-week period from 1 st December 2025 through to 20 th February 2026
* Ready to start your career in the mining industry
* A holder of Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical examination
