Software Tester / QA Engineer – Payment Gateway Systems
OmiPay is a payment technology company providing digital payment and payment gateway solutions to Australian and international merchants. Our platform supports a range of payment methods and merchant payment scenarios, including QR code payments, web-based payments, POS terminal payments, cashier system integration and payment gateway services.
A significant part of OmiPay's business involves Asian-facing payment products and payment gateway services, including payment solutions connected with Asian mobile payment ecosystems such as Alipay, WeChat Pay, JD Pay, UnionPay, GrabPay and similar cross-border payment environments.
These products require reliable testing across merchant systems, consumer payment journeys, payment APIs, transaction notifications, refund flows, currency display, reconciliation and settlement-related data. As our Asian-facing payment platform and future payment gateway products continue to develop, we are seeking an experienced Software Tester / QA Engineer with strong experience in payment system testing, Chinese or Asia-Pacific digital payment ecosystems, API testing, automated testing and performance testing.
About the Role
This role is responsible for testing OmiPay's payment platform and related systems, with a focus on Asian-facing payment gateway products and cross-border digital payment scenarios.
The successful candidate will work closely with our product, development, operations, compliance and merchant support teams in Australia to ensure the stability, reliability and accuracy of payment flows, merchant integrations, transaction data and settlement-related functions.
This is not a remote-only or offshore contractor role. The position requires close involvement in OmiPay's Australian merchant-facing payment operations, including local merchant integration testing, POS and cashier system testing, user acceptance testing, issue reproduction, production incident investigation and release quality control. The role also involves access to payment workflows, merchant information, transaction records, settlement-related data and commercially sensitive system information, which must be handled within OmiPay's internal employment, supervision and security framework.
The role requires strong capability in handling high-volume transaction data, identifying pre-release issues, managing testing-related faults, assessing system stability and preparing post-testing analysis and reports.
The role will also support OmiPay's future product readiness, including potential mobility-related and in-vehicle payment gateway integration scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, prepare and execute test plans, test cases and test scripts for OmiPay's payment platform, Asian-facing payment gateway products and merchant payment systems.
· Conduct functional testing, regression testing, API testing, UI testing, integration testing and end-to-end testing across digital payment workflows.
· Test payment scenarios involving Alipay, WeChat Pay, JD Pay, UnionPay, QR code payment, mobile wallet payment, web payment, POS payment and cashier system integration.
· Develop and maintain automated test cases for payment APIs, merchant portals, transaction workflows and related backend services.
· Perform performance, load and reliability testing for high-volume payment transaction scenarios.
· Conduct pre-test troubleshooting and environment readiness checks to identify potential defects, interface issues, transaction failure points and data inconsistency risks before formal testing or release.
· Perform stability and degradation testing, including timeout scenarios, abnormal transaction flows, retry logic, fallback behaviour, partial service failure and system recovery.
· Analyse large-volume transaction data, system logs, payment records and test results to identify abnormal patterns, failed transactions, data inconsistencies and potential system risks.
· Prepare post-testing reports, defect summaries, incident analysis and release-readiness recommendations for developers, product managers and operations teams.
· Test successful payments, failed payments, refunds, reversals, duplicate transactions, timeout handling, callback notifications, payment status updates and settlement-related data.
· Verify the accuracy and consistency of transaction records, merchant reports, payment status, settlement data, reconciliation records and system logs.
· Identify, reproduce, document and follow up software defects with developers, product managers and operations teams.
· Support local merchant integration testing, including POS terminal, QR code, web payment, cashier system integration and payment gateway functions.
· Participate in user acceptance testing, release verification, production issue investigation and post-release quality monitoring.
· Assist with the improvement of QA frameworks, test environments, automated testing processes and release quality controls.
· Contribute to QA planning for future payment gateway products, including potential mobility-related and in-vehicle payment integration scenarios.

· Experience preparing test plans, test cases, defect reports and QA documentation.
· Ability to work closely with local product, development, operations, compliance and merchant support teams in Australia.
