About the role
As the Technical Officer, you will contribute to high-quality research, operational and project activities by applying your technical knowledge, sound judgement and practical problem-solving skills. You will undertake technical tasks independently and may also lead minor technical projects, ensuring that all work is delivered safely, accurately and in line with organisational requirements. Your role will support the successful delivery of scientific, laboratory or operational programs that rely on strong technical capability and attention to detail.
You will also play a key role in supporting and guiding team members, using your experience to provide supervision and maintain high standards of technical practice. Preparing clear reports, reviewing equipment suitability and assessing technical procedures will form an important part of your contribution to ongoing improvement and operational excellence. This position offers an excellent chance to strengthen your technical leadership skills while working within a collaborative and creative environment.
About You
You are a capable and motivated Technical Officer who brings strong laboratory skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering high-quality support within a scientific environment. You communicate well, work effectively both independently and within a team, and take pride in maintaining accuracy, safety and professionalism in all tasks.
- Educational/Vocational Qualifications – Diploma or Advanced Diploma in an approved, recognised qualification, or an equivalent level of training as outlined in the Role Description.
- Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills – Strong ability to manage varied workloads, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capacity to supervise and train others; ability to follow instructions, apply initiative, troubleshoot issues, and use relevant computer software confidently and accurately.
- Experience – Demonstrated experience in a relevant laboratory setting, including working with client requirements and resolving technical or operational problems as they arise.
- Knowledge – Sound understanding of quality principles, diagnostic laboratory practice, and Work Health and Safety requirements that support safe, reliable and high-standard laboratory operations.
