About The Role
Wavell State High School is seeking an innovative, future‑focused leader to join our team as Head of Department. The Head of Department will drive the strategic development of a coherent, schoolwide pathways framework that equips every student with the skills, credentials and characteristics needed for success and empowers students to make informed decisions about their future.
The Position Will Focus On
- Leading the design and implementation of a whole‑school approach to pathways and careers education.
- Establishing strong links across faculties, year levels, student support teams and Programs of Excellence.
- Creating real world opportunities for students through building meaningful partnerships with tertiary providers, industry, community organisations and external agencies.
- Creating flexible and individualised programs of learning for students that offer agility with academic rigour, prioritise skills development and provide future‑focused and diverse pathways.
- Developing and embedding learner profiles, aligned with the University of Melbourne’s ‘Melbourne Metrics’ framework, that capture each student’s strengths, skills, values, credentials and progress to support future pathways.
- Ensuring all students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to transition successfully into further education, training or employment.
- Championing a culture of high expectations, personal growth and future‑readiness.
