**About the Role**

The Environmental Operations is responsible for the protection, enhancement, and management of Council's environmental assets across the landscape of the Sunshine Coast through development and delivery of integrated programs.

The Coastal Planning Officer provides technical advice and support to the Coastal, Constructed Water Bodies and Planning Team, specifically on foreshore and canal projects including the planning management of beaches, canals and coastal projects involving approvals and permits.

**About you**

As a Coastal Planning Officer, you will provide technical advice and undertake supporting investigations for the effective planning of a broad range of coastal and foreshore management issues including (but not limited to) beach erosion, beach nourishment, dredging activities, foreshore and dune management and restoration, and general coastal zone management.

You will identify and manage legislative compliance obligations, assessments and approval processes for Councils capital and operational programs and provide environmental technical advice/solutions on all aspects of coastal and canal operational functions.

You will critically evaluate coastal process studies and assessments related to the management of the coastal zone and prepare timely and well researched briefings, reports, and correspondence as required, and ensure Council works in coastal and canal areas are carried out with all relevant approvals and permits and in accordance with Council's policies and procedures and State and Federal Government legislation.

As a requirement of this role, you will possess a Current "C" class driver's licence, and current QLD. Construction Induction Card (White Card).

You will have a high level of demonstrated interpersonal, written and communication skills and the ability to liaise professionally with government agencies, the general public, community groups, Council staff, Councillors, and professional bodies.

You will have strong time management, financial and budget management, and organisation skills to manage significant or multiple projects and complex cases, manage multiple competing priorities, a variety of stakeholder expectations and foster cooperation and collaboration to achieve preferred business outcomes.
