Key ResponsibilitiesMarket & Trading AnalyticsAnalyse market outcomes including pricing behaviour, dispatch trends, volatility events and broader system dynamics. Investigate the drivers behind major market events such as network constraints, renewable intermittency, outages and demand fluctuations. Assess asset performance against market conditions and identify opportunities to improve revenue capture and operational performance. Support trading and commercial teams with timely market insights and analysis. Market MonitoringTrack key NEM fundamentals including demand, renewable generation, interconnector flows, transmission constraints and generator availability. Identify emerging market trends, risks and potential opportunities across the energy market landscape. Reporting & Tool DevelopmentDevelop regular reporting and analytical outputs for internal stakeholders. Build and improve dashboards, analytical tools and reporting processes to enhance market visibility and decision-making capability. Contribute to ongoing improvements in data infrastructure and analytics capability. Support the development and refinement of short-term forecasting models relating to price, demand and renewable generation. Apply data analysis and modelling techniques to improve forecast performance and market understanding. Candidate ProfileExperience & BackgroundPrior experience within the Australian NEM or a comparable electricity market environment. Exposure to market analysis, trading analytics, system operations or related functions within the energy sector. Understanding of electricity market fundamentals, dispatch outcomes and price formation. Technical CapabilityStrong analytical capability with experience using Python and/or SQL. Experience working with large datasets and energy market data sources such as AEMO MMS/NEMWeb. Exposure to visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Interest in leveraging AI and machine learning tools to improve analytical workflows and market insights. Preferred ExperienceExposure to battery storage, renewable generation or energy trading environments. Understanding of transmission constraints and dispatch mechanics within the NEM. Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to commercial or trading stakeholders.
