Offer description

Bradken is a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of innovative wear products and services for the resources sector. With a 3000-strong workforce and manufacturing operations across multiple regions, we support customers operating in some of the world’s most demanding industrial environments.

We are seeking a Principal Process Safety Engineer to act as Bradken’s enterprise technical authority for process safety across our global manufacturing operations.

This newly created role owns the framework that helps identify, assess and control catastrophic hazards across our sites. You will lead the governance of process hazard reviews, Maximum Credible Event scenarios, major hazard controls, Management of Change processes, and assurance activity across regions.

Reporting to the Global Head of Product & Manufacturing Excellence, you will work closely with manufacturing leaders, site teams, safety specialists, engineers and senior executives. Your work will influence risk reduction priorities, major hazard controls, capital decisions and Bradken’s ongoing licence to operate.

In this role, you will:

* Lead and continuously improve Bradken’s global Process Hazard Review framework, including standards, methodologies, and assurance processes.
* Define and maintain Maximum Credible Event frameworks and site‑specific high‑consequence scenario libraries.
* Conduct or assure consequence modelling across risks such as thermal radiation, overpressure, blast, toxic dispersion, projectile or fragment hazards.
* Act as technical authority for high‑risk process hazard studies, safeguard strategies, critical controls and significant process or design changes.
* Govern high‑hazard Management of Change activity, ensuring changes are technically justified, risk‑assessed and aligned with process safety standards.
* Build process safety capability across regions through coaching, competency frameworks, and a network of trained facilitators and practitioners.
* Lead process safety assurance, including audits, field verification, critical control effectiveness and closure of systemic improvement actions.
* Support emergency planning, incident investigations, regulatory interactions, inspections and major hazard compliance activity.

You will bring:

* Extensive process safety experience in high‑hazard industrial environments.
* Strong capability in process hazard analysis methods such as HAZOP, What‑If and FMEA, with LOPA and Bowtie experience highly regarded.
* Experience with consequence modelling, risk quantification and major hazard regulatory environments.
* The ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs and process or utility systems, then translate technical information into credible hazard scenarios and controls.
* Experience acting as a technical authority in high‑risk decision‑making environments.
* Strong stakeholder influence, with the ability to guide site leaders, technical teams and senior executives through complex risk‑based decisions.
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
* Chartered or registered engineer status would be highly regarded.
* Experience with Safety Case, MHF or equivalent major hazard documentation would be highly desirable.
* Foundry, metallurgical process or molten metal hazard experience would be strongly valued.

We offer:

* Safety first environment and mindset
* Flexible work options
* Competitive Total Reward Packages
* Global and local recognition programs
* Learning and Development focus
* Education assistance
* EAP for you and your family
* Community Involvement Program

This is a rare opportunity to shape process safety at enterprise level across a global manufacturing business. You will be instrumental in building standards, influencing senior decisions, and strengthening practical process safety capability across complex operations. Your work will help protect people, communities and critical assets while supporting Bradken’s long‑term operational resilience.

Bradken is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to providing a diverse, inclusive, engaging and flexible environment for our people. All employment decisions are based on merit, competence, performance and business needs.
