About the Role
Responsible for designing products from concept phase through to production, constantly elevating the product line.
* Complete trend research with a commercial, customer‐facing lens.
* Deliver our brand vision by creating original artwork using CAD and illustration, and produce accurate design packs with specifications.
* Develop products aligned with the MEB brand DNA in collaboration with the buying team.
* Create brand design direction, including mood boards, colour stories, and print research aligned to the brand DNA.
* Establish a distinct handwriting and design aesthetic for the brand, continuously evolving and developing it.
* Design and develop new styles for the product range, sourcing new fabrics and trims; produce design packs for garment vendors and sourcing partners to convey development requirements for seasonal style development.
* Maintain range boards, flow boards and updated visuals for range review meetings.
* Prepare technical specifications of print artwork designs suitable for production, including briefing placement, size, colouration and printing methodology.
* Collaborate with buyers to elevate the product through sourcing opportunities, develop appropriate qualities, sampling and pricing.
About You
* Tertiary education in design or equivalent industry experience related to the design role.
* 6+ years' experience in a design or product development role or retail equivalent.
* Advanced understanding of the market, customer segmentation, trends and competitive landscape.
* Proven ability to interpret international trends for the Australian market and communicate them effectively.
* Strong understanding of construction methods and garment finishing, and solid knowledge of fabric finishes, treatments, washes, weights, and fabric properties.
* High proficiency using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
* Familiarity with Microsoft applications.
* Retail, financial and business acumen.
* Experience working for a medium‐size retailer is a benefit.
* Ability to work in a fast‐paced team environment, working closely with the buying team, QA and sourcing team.
* Strong time‐management skills, able to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
