Overview
Community Lawyer - Family Violence Initiatives role at NGO Recruitment for Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC). The position provides trauma-informed legal advice and casework to women experiencing or at risk of family violence, across ECLC's Mabels, WELS and SAGE programs, within an integrated, multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
* Deliver trauma-informed legal assistance in family violence and related family law matters at outreach sites including Maternal Child Health services, Eastern Health locations, and Aboriginal Healing Services.
* Collaborate closely with Family Violence Advocates, Maternal Child Health Nurses, Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and other support services to offer holistic support.
* Contribute to community legal education, secondary consultations, and strengthen relationships with service partners to support early intervention and culturally safe service delivery.
Qualifications
* Eligibility to hold an unrestricted employee practising certificate in Victoria
* Experience in family violence, family law and related legal areas
* Ability to work independently across multiple outreach locations
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
* Experience working with women from diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse groups
