The Opportunity
A highly regarded, independent Australian law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join its established Employment & Workplace Relations team in Sydney.
This is a standout opportunity to work alongside respected practitioners on complex, high-value matters for a diverse client base, including corporates, funds, and high-growth businesses. The role offers a strong mix of advisory and contentious work, with exposure to strategic, business-critical issues.
The Team
You’ll be joining a collaborative and well-regarded employment practice that advises across the full spectrum of workplace relations, including:
* Employment and industrial relations advice
* Workplace investigations and disputes
* Discrimination, harassment and regulatory matters
* Enterprise bargaining and industrial issues
* Restructures, redundancies and outsourcing
* Executive and incentive arrangements
The team also partners closely with corporate and private capital clients on sensitive workforce and executive matters.
The Role
In this role, you will:
* Provide strategic, commercially focused employment advice
* Work closely with clients on complex and often high-profile matters
* Draft and advise on employment contracts, policies and frameworks
* Support dispute resolution and litigation matters
* Stay across evolving employment legislation and regulatory developments
You’ll play a key role in client relationships while mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to a high-performing team environment.
About You
You are a confident and commercially minded employment lawyer who brings:
* 5+ years’ PQE in employment/workplace relations (private practice)
* Strong technical skills with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
* A collaborative mindset and positive, team‑oriented attitude
* The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure
