Position Information
Job Title: School Psychologist (Full time: 1.0 FTE, location: Sefton High School).
School psychologists are essential to the Department’s school counselling service, providing counselling and psychological assessment for primary and high school students to strengthen learning and wellbeing outcomes. The role is collegiate, offering opportunities for career development and impact on children’s lives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing individual and group counselling and brief therapeutic interventions within the limits of training and supervision.
- Assessing, reporting and collaborating to improve learning, wellbeing and mental health outcomes.
- Working with school staff, students, parents, carers and agencies to develop school‑based support plans.
- Responding to serious incidents and referring students to external agencies when appropriate.
- Complying with the Professional Practice Framework and Department priorities.
Essential Requirements
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and Partnership Agreement.
- General or Provisional Psychology Registration with active internship, or current registration.
- Valid Working with Children Check clearance.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel between work sites.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
