Senior Service Management Specialist — Bureau of Meteorology
Base pay range: A$115,443.00/yr - A$125,832.00/yr. This range is provided by the Bureau of Meteorology. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Position location: Melbourne Office. The role supports the Data and Digital Group by maturing ITIL-based processes that underpin Enterprise Service Management (ESM) across the Bureau and by developing, supporting, and maintaining the Bureau’s ESM system (Cherwell provided by Ivanti) used to manage technology incidents, requests, and other ITIL-aligned processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the maturing and uplift of key ITIL process capability areas including, but not limited to, Service catalogue, Configuration management, Knowledge management, and Service level management.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Bureau\'s service management capability; produce and present ITIL service management artefacts.
- Develop and coordinate team-level and Bureau-wide training requirements and artefacts; support the adoption of key ESM artefacts across the Bureau.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of plans, policies, and procedures to increase the value and impact of service management and related activities; collaborate with other Bureau programs.
- Provide high-level expertise to develop and improve service management solutions and articulate benefits to the Data & Digital Group and broader Bureau.
- Maintain an understanding of the operational environment and contribute to routine reporting on key performance metrics.
- Engage with stakeholders to identify service improvement opportunities and facilitate cooperation across the Program.
Capability Leadership
- Drive and continually improve the ITIL-based service management capability.
- Support organisational change management regarding service management processes.
- Ensure team accountability for outcomes, with focus on competency, culture, and cohesion.
- Comply with Bureau health and safety policies and promote safety for all staff, contractors and visitors.
- Apply the Bureau\'s Social Justice Strategy principles where relevant.
Mandatory qualifications
A degree or diploma from an Australian educational institution (or comparable overseas qualification) appropriate to the duties, or other comparable qualifications.
ITIL v3 certification or relevant experience in ITIL process management; ITIL 4 Certification is highly regarded.
Merit pool
The selection process will establish a merit pool that may be used to fill similar positions within 18 months.
