The Opportunity
We're looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Perth, supporting the delivery and adoption of our Digital Orebody Knowledge (OBK) solutions.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys combining geotechnical expertise with technology and data-driven workflows, working at the intersection of geotechnical engineering, mining technology and applied AI. In this role, you'll work closely with geotechnical engineers, geologists, data scientists and software developers to help deliver practical, high-value geotechnical solutions for mining clients globally.
You'll play an important role in customer engagement, technical delivery, workflow development and product improvement, helping customers integrate Datarock technologies into modern geotechnical and geological workflows.
This role is well suited to someone who is curious, adaptable and interested in the future of digital geoscience and mining technology.
Key Responsibilities
* Support customer onboarding and implementation of IMDEX geotechnical solutions
* Apply geotechnical expertise to support solution delivery, validation and QA/QC of outputs
* Work with customers to interpret and communicate geotechnical data and insights
* Act as a technical point of contact, translating geotechnical data into clear, actionable insights for customers
* Participate in technical discussions, presentations and product demonstrations
* Collaborate with data scientists, engineers and developers to enhance products and workflows
* Contribute to documentation, training materials and customer support resources
* Provide feedback and practical input into product development and future capabilities
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Engineering Geology or similar
* Strong understanding of geotechnical data and its application (e.g., core logging, rock mass characterisation, modelling)
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Comfortable working in a customer-facing role and building strong relationships
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work
* Experience with Python or coding (nice to have)
* Experience presenting technical results or working with clients
* Familiarity with geotechnical data platforms or digital mining technologies (ideal)
