Brunel has partnered with a leading resources company on a contract opportunity for a Data Analytics Engineer. This role is ideal for a highly motivated professional eager to grow skills in SAP and data products, with strong experience in SQL Server, Snowflake, and familiarity with heavy mobile equipment (HME) and the mining industry.
This position focuses on transforming complex SAP maintenance data into clear insights on performance of HME assets. Working within an engineering‑led analytics team, you will design high‑quality data models and pipelines using Snowflake SQL, Python, and SAP data structures to support advanced analysis and strategic decision‑making towards decarbonisation initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
* Develop and maintain Snowflake SQL data models and pipelines supporting asset performance analytics.
* Clean, transform, and validate SAP maintenance, materials, and operational datasets for component reliability and lifecycle analysis.
* Develop simple PowerBI and Excel reports to support subject‑matter‑expert review and user data validation.
* Collaborate with technology teams and external application developers to enable efficient data access between systems.
* Drive continuous improvement in data quality through investigation, testing, and proactive issue resolution.
* Use GitHub for version control, code review, and collaborative development.
* Maintain documentation and governance across all analytical systems.
Requirements:
* Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience (3+ years) in data and analytics.
* Strong proficiency with SQL Server / Snowflake and for data modelling, transformation, and automation (essential).
* Proven experience working with SAP PM/CMMS data is strongly desirable.
* Experience within Mining Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) environment in maintenance, reliability, planning or engineering roles is strongly desirable.
* Proficiency with Python, Microsoft PowerBI and Excel (desirable).
* Familiarity with GitHub for version control, code review, and collaborative workflows.
* Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and commitment to data accuracy and traceability.
* Demonstrated teamwork, communication skills and commitment to Health, Safety and Environment is essential.
