In December ****, HCA commenced providing health, mental health and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our multidisciplinary team – nurses, general practitioners and allied health professionals – offers a wide range of healthcare services to detainees, such as triaging, medication, wound management, immunisation and other clinical procedures. HCA also introduced a Virtual Care Centre (VCC), a 24/7 service that provides remote healthcare via telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care.

In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team dedicated to delivering person-centred, high-quality, and safe care. You will conduct comprehensive assessments, plan, implement, and evaluate care to improve the health outcomes and overall wellbeing of individuals in detention.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a broad range of clinical responsibilities, including immunisations, blood collection, wound care, health assessments, care planning, medication administration, and health promotion and education. The role involves delivering care that honours the dignity, culture, values, beliefs, and rights of detainees, while fostering a respectful and inclusive healthcare environment.
Qualifications
You will be an AHPRA Registered Nurse (General unrestricted registration) and have at least five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, including hands-on patient care in an operational setting (non-Telehealth).
You will demonstrate a strong ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. You will possess excellent communication skills, coupled with critical thinking and sound decision-making abilities. Your adaptability and flexibility will enable you to respond effectively to changing circumstances and meet the evolving needs of detainees.
