Are you passionate about early childhood education and working with Aboriginal communities?

The NT Department of Education and Training is looking for a Senior Teacher (Family Educator) to lead our Families as First Teachers (FaFT) program in Lajamanu.

As part of a vibrant and collaborative team, you’ll design and deliver early learning and parenting programs for families with children aged birth to 3. You’ll work alongside local Aboriginal educators and the broader community to strengthen early childhood development, build family capacity, and support successful transitions into preschool.

What You'll Do:

* Deliver high-quality early learning and family support programs
* Use the Abecedarian Approach Australia (3a) to enhance child–adult interactions
* Collaborate across agencies to support families and community needs
* Foster partnerships and lead culturally respectful educational initiatives
* Help build the capabilities of local Aboriginal staff

What You'll Need:

* Early Childhood qualification or equivalent experience
* Strong relationship-building and community engagement skills
* Cultural understanding of and respect for Aboriginal societies
* NT teacher registration, Ochre Card, and driver’s licence (or ability to obtain)

Why Lajamanu?

Lajamanu is a remote Aboriginal community on the edge of the Tanami Desert, home to around 1,200 people, where Warlpiri is the primary language. The community is serviced year-round by road and air, and offers amenities such as a supermarket, hospital, post office, and recreational facilities. The local school has around 136 students and offers both academic and vocational education with strong cultural integration.
