Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site Personal Trainer role based at The Yard Gym in Mortdale, NSW. The Personal Trainer will design and deliver safe, effective, and engaging training sessions for individual clients and small groups. Day‐to‐day tasks include conducting fitness assessments, building personalized programs, coaching correct technique, and tracking member progress toward their goals. The role also involves providing education on basic exercise principles, warm‐up and cooldown routines, and lifestyle habits that support overall health. The Personal Trainer will contribute to a welcoming gym environment, maintain equipment cleanliness and safety standards, and collaborate with the team to support events and member engagement.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience in personal training, fitness instruction, or coaching, with the ability to guide clients of varying ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds.
* Strong skills in exercise programming, including goal setting, progression planning, and adapting workouts for individual needs or limitations.
* Solid understanding of exercise technique, injury prevention, and safe use of gym equipment, with a focus on clear and supportive cueing.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to motivate, listen actively, and build positive, professional relationships with members.
* Organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple clients, sessions, and administrative tasks efficiently.
* Relevant fitness certification or qualification (e.g., Certificate III/IV in Fitness or equivalent), and current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain them.
* Comfort working in a team-focused environment and contributing to an inclusive, respectful, and encouraging gym culture.
* Availability to work a flexible part‐time schedule, which may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on member needs.
