Board Director and Philanthropy Chair, Buderim Foundation - Helping Sunshine Coast Communities Thrive
The Buderim Foundation is a respected community-driven philanthropic organisation with a long history of connecting generosity with community impact. Since 2004, we have provided a trusted and enduring way for people to give back to the region they love. Our business model takes donations and bequests from generous donors, professionally manages those investments, and distributes the earnings as grants to people and community organisations across the Sunshine Coast whose vital work supports those most in need and strengthens lasting local impact.
Through this model, the Foundation has distributed in excess of $2.7m in grants.
The Foundation is now building on its success to broaden its philanthropic activities on the Sunshine Coast and is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to take on the role of:
Board Director and Philanthropy Chair
The successful candidate will be well networked across the Sunshine Coast and have experience in philanthropic activities to encourage individuals and businesses with the means to financially support the Foundation's pursuit in building community and helping those in need.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of a well-established community foundation dedicated to enhancing the Buderim and greater Sunshine Coast communities through grants supporting youth, the environment, the aged, arts, and people in need.
About the Role
As a Board Director, you will play a central role in shaping the Foundation's strategic direction, strengthening governance and risk management, and actively championing the growth of our brand, reputation and visibility across the Sunshine Coast.
As Chair of the Philanthropy Committee, you will lead a small, motivated team to grow community giving across the Sunshine Coast. This includes:
* Identifying, segmenting and nurturing donor opportunities,
* Building relationships with individuals, families and major philanthropists,
* Collaborating closely with the Marketing Chair in building targeted fundraising campaigns,
* Championing the Foundation's message that "every donation stays local, grows over time and supports the people, places and initiatives that make our region special."
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a leader who embodies the Foundation's warm, community-minded personality and commitment to strengthening the Sunshine Coast. You will bring:
* A highly ethical individual with a strong reputation across the Sunshine Coast community.
* Experience in philanthropy, fundraising and/or community engagement, with an understanding of how generosity fuels long-term community wellbeing.
* Strong leadership skills with a consultative and collaborative style to work effectively with other board and committee members.
* Strategic capability, with the ability to guide donor development, support Board decision-making and contribute to responsible stewardship.
* Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* A genuine interest in community development.
