The Southport School's Preparatory School provides an outstanding education for boys. Due to the retirement of one of our valued team members we are seeking to appoint a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to support our Year 1 Class Teachers commencing 13 July 2026. This is a permanent part time position working five days per week during school term time.
About the Role
You will work closely with the classroom teachers to support the academic, social and emotional development of young boys in an engaging and nurturing learning environment. This role plays an important role in ensuring each student is supported to reach their full potential and also assists the teachers with administrative support in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and effective learning programs
* Provide individual and small group support to students, particularly in literacy and numeracy
* Support student wellbeing, behaviour management and classroom routines
* Prepare classroom resources and assist with lesson set up and pack down
* Supervise students during class and playground activities as required
* Foster a positive, inclusive and respectful learning environment
Skills and Experience
* Experience working with primary-aged children (Early Years preferred – Prep-Year 2)
* A warm, patient and supportive approach to working with young boys
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to take initiative while working collaboratively within a team
* Flexibility, reliability and a proactive attitude
* Minimum Certificate III in Education Support
* Willing to obtain CPR/First Aid Qualifications
