Consultant Psychiatrist (Consultation Liaison / Adult) – Albany
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is offering a unique opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist (Adult) to join one of its highly desirable regions - the Great Southern. This role is available as Full Time, Part Time, Permanent or Fixed Term opportunities, commencing in July. The Fixed Term roles may include options for extension(s).
MP Year 1–9: $412,161 – $523,436 per annum. (Inclusive of base Salary, 12% superannuation, and professional development allowance. Salary subject to assessment of qualifications, clinical skills, and years of practice.)
About The Role
In this position, you will deliver comprehensive clinical assessments and provide psychiatric care and treatment for adults in the community or inpatient setting. The caseloads and on-call requirements are extremely manageable.
The Consultation Liaison role covers referrals from the general medical, surgical and maternity wards and works closely with the palliative care team, including in the hospice.
There is a strong commitment to ongoing education, training, and research with ongoing projects and links with local Rural Clinical Schools and Universities. Consultants with subspecialty qualifications or specific clinical interests are welcome to incorporate these into the service.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnoses, and psychiatric treatment, ensuring best practice clinical interventions are provided to clients.
* Liaise and confer regularly with general practitioners and other health care professionals.
* Supervise and mentor medical students, junior doctors and training registrars.
* Participate in continuing professional development and contribute to education, training and research projects relevant to the mental health service.
* Participate in the on-call roster for the mental health team and the ECT roster.
The Successful Candidates will have:
* Eligibility for registration by the Medical Board of Australia in the speciality of Psychiatry.
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrist (FRANZCP) or be eligible for Fellowship.
* Extensive clinical experience in adult mental health.

* Experience in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry.
