Cultural Fire Rangers are vital to preserving and enhancing natural and cultural health in specific environments. They work closely with teams to implement Cultural Burning practices and support Traditional Owners.
Responsibilities:
* Plan and execute Cultural Burns
* Manage vegetation, including weed control and brush cutting
* Maintain equipment and participate in managing culturally significant sites
* Report risks or issues related to assets of the WJJWJ Peoples
Community engagement is key, including strengthening networks, promoting opportunities for Traditional Owners, and providing mentoring to Aboriginal community members.
Strong communication skills are essential, as well as an understanding of traditional values and knowledge.
