ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Rone is a street artist best known for his haunting, stylised portraits. Celebrated for his recent exhibitions, Empire (2019) and Rone in Geelong (2021), artist Rone's latest creation is an even more grandiose immersive art experience, In Melbourne.
OVERVIEW
The main duties of Exhibition Invigilator (Event Host) will include providing continuous, meticulous care of the exhibition and guests in attendance. Invigilators are also tasked with answering any queries regarding to the artist and the artwork to all guests. You will be provided with backgrounds on the artist and exhibition to learn and refer to.
Due to the heritage nature of the venue and precious nature of the exhibition materials, all safety and risk management procedures must be incessantly followed. Guests must be guided to observe all artwork visually, keep their distance from the installation as well as one another.
Invigilators will be designated different spaces throughout the exhibition and they must be spatially aware of capacities and all guests. Invigilators also play an important role in managing safety practices and cleanliness of the exhibition.
This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain significant experience and exposure to all facets of an art exhibition.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reporting to the onsite Event Coordinator
- Upholding all training requirements and code of conduct as provided by the Event Manager and core Production team.
- To engage with exhibition guests; provide accurate information about the artist, exhibition, artwork and merchandise
- Direct guests where required, be available to answer any questions
- Ensure all guests follow visitation guidelines - identify and efficiently resolve any breaks to protocol/safety
- Ensure exhibition cleanliness standards are upheld, including inline with current COVID-safe guidelines.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Applicants must be personable, knowledgeable and approachable as a source of information for the artist and exhibition
- Hosting / Invigilation background is preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills
- Flexible to work a range of shifts based on our exhibition and special events schedule
- Energetic, committed, strong sense of initiative
- Punctual and reliable
- Excellent time management both in peak times as well as in between session times
- A solid understanding of the current contemporary and urban art-scene is preferred
