As a Technical Services Coordinator, your team will often manage complex caseloads. The team you lead works across engineering, planning and specialist skill sets to review, assess and resolve complex issues to successfully meet compliance, legislation, policies and procedures.
Through shared collaboration, technical knowledge and an innate understanding of how this interacts with the planning scheme, the team also align to organisational risk and the Branch's business plan.
With the upcoming 10-year milestone of the team's establishment, a valuable opportunity presents to refocus, reprioritise, and reshape the team's responsibilities.
The Technical Services Coordinator will play a key role in driving this evolution, bringing a strategic perspective to defining the team's purpose and vision, alongside a flexible, collaborative, and constructive approach to leading change.
Your role will include but not limited to:
* Manage the operations of the Technical Services Team
* Leading developing, mentoring and undertaking performance reviews and assessments, driving quality and a high-performance culture
* Provide specialist planning and engineering direction and strategic leadership across the following areas:
* Environmental Engineering
* Hydraulic Engineering
* Stormwater (WSUD/Quality)
* Acoustic Engineering
* Traffic Engineering
* Transport Planning
* Parks Planning
* Social Planning
* Urban Design and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
* Create meaningful engagement and robust relationships that engage and collaborate with a broad range of internal, external, technical and non-technical, community based or politically aligned stakeholders
* Monitoring, reviewing, optimising and empowering a culture of continuous improvement
* Operating with a business management and operations focus, advocating, negotiating & engaging in ways that drive optimal outcomes aligned to the best interests of council, community and key stakeholders alike
Qualification, knowledge, skills, and experience
* Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Engineering or an equivalent qualification with significant specialist knowledge and experience in the management of an interdisciplinary team of technical specialists.
* Eligible for full membership with the Planning Institute of Australia.
* Experience in the management and leadership of a professional team of technical experts in a non-technical environment.
* Proven track record resolving infrastructure delivery and policy challenges in responding to emerging development industry trends
* Experience in driving and influencing policy change through collaborating, partnering and leading conversations
* Postgraduate qualifications (coursework or research) in any one of the specialist planning or specialist engineering functions.
* Demonstrated capability producing clear and concise technical reports, correspondence and briefing material for senior, executive management and elected officials.
In this role we believe that obtaining postgraduate qualifications (coursework or research) in any one of the specialist planning functions could extend the contribution that you make to your team and our customers. Financial support may be available, subject to management approval, and in accordance with the management directive.
