Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow - Genomics
Join to apply for the Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow - Genomics role at The University of Queensland.
Full-time (100%) fixed-term position through to December ****.
Academic Level A salary range $82,****** – $109,****** + 17% superannuation.
Academic Level B salary range $114,****** – $136,****** + 17% superannuation.
Based at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, St Lucia Campus.
About This Opportunity
Join us in applying cutting-edge statistical genetics to uncover the genetic and environmental aetiology of complex traits and diseases using large-scale cohorts and datasets. Our focus spans maternal health, early-life genetics, and how intrauterine and early-life exposures shape future disease risk.
Key Responsibilities
Establish a research program and collaborate on projects.
Seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilise best-practice research methodologies and participate in project discussions.
Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues and uphold university values.
Academic Level B (in addition to Level A responsibilities)
Teaching: Where undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is undertaken, achieve teaching quality as indicated by approved surveys and outcomes for students, and improve or innovate where appropriate in response to feedback.

Level A Qualifications
Completion or near completion of a PhD in Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology or Epidemiology.
An emerging research profile in the discipline area.
Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presentations at conferences.
Evidence of contributions toward successfully obtaining external research funding.
Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions toward external activities.
Level B Qualifications
Completion of a PhD in Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology or Epidemiology.
A growing research profile in the discipline area.
A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presentations at conferences.
Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.
A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and an education check. You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply; employer-sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
