Electrical Surveyor – Cambridge City Council
Salary: £30 - £35 per hour DOE • Contract: Initial 3-Month Contract • Hours: 37 per week • Location: Cambridge / Hybrid Working
Cambridge City Council is looking for an experienced Electrical Surveyor to join its Asset Management team on an initial 3-month contract. This role involves managing electrical compliance, inspection programmes, and planned works across the Council's housing and corporate property portfolio.
Responsibilities
* Managing electrical compliance across Council-owned properties.
* Overseeing inspection, testing and certification programmes, including EICRs, emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.
* Maintaining accurate compliance records and electrical asset information.
* Identifying defects, risks and non-compliance issues and implementing corrective actions.
* Developing and delivering planned electrical improvement and replacement programmes.
* Producing technical specifications and supporting project delivery from feasibility through to completion.
* Managing contractors and monitoring quality, safety and performance.
* Carrying out site inspections and sign-off of completed works.
* Providing specialist electrical advice to internal stakeholders.
* Supporting wider building safety, asset management and decarbonisation initiatives.
About You
* Significant experience in electrical installation, maintenance, inspection or compliance within housing, property or building services.
* Experience managing contractors and electrical works programmes.
* Strong knowledge of electrical regulations, compliance requirements and building safety legislation.
* Experience producing specifications and interpreting technical drawings and certification.
* Knowledge of CDM Regulations and their application to maintenance and project works.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience within a local authority, housing association or regulated environment would be advantageous.
Essential Qualifications
* Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in an electrical or building services discipline.
* City & Guilds 2391, 2397 or equivalent Inspection & Testing qualification.
* GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
* Full UK Driving Licence or ability to travel to sites across Cambridge.
