Graduate Nurse Program (GNP) 2027
Two‐year foundation paediatric nursing pathway that includes three rotational clinical placements within medical, surgical and specialty wards. Designed to develop competence, confidence and to prepare graduates for careers at the Royal Children's Hospital.
Program Structure
* Duration: 2 years (including a 12‐month graduate cohort)
* FTE: Part‐time 0.8FTE
* Placement: Three rotations covering medical, surgical and specialty paediatric practice
* Support: Orientation, preceptorship, supernumerary time, ongoing in‐service education and training
* Assessment: Structured appraisals, ANSAT assessment, student reflection, preceptor comments
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver patient‐centred nursing care in paediatric wards
* Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds and contribute to multidisciplinary care plans
* Apply paediatric nursing skills and evidence‐based practice in medical, surgical and specialty settings
* Complete reflective practice and critical questioning to enhance learning
* Maintain professional documentation and adhere to the Child Safe Standards
Qualifications & Requirements
* Graduated Registered Nurse (RN) with a tertiary qualification
* Strong interest in paediatric nursing and commitment to child‐focused, family‐centred care
* Valid RN registration and willingness to undertake a police check and required vaccination records (influenza, COVID‐19, etc.)
* Ability to work in a high‐intensity, multidisciplinary environment
