Contracts Administrator – Water Services
Location: North Brisbane & Sunshine Coast (Offices based in Mango Hill and Maroochydore), with openness to nearby locations if needed.
The Prospect
Downer’s Energy & Utilities -Water Services team is seeking a Contracts Administrator to support the Queensland Unitywater Program. You will provide professional contract administration support, managing variations, progress claims, subcontractor agreements, and commercial reporting.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, and the program team to ensure contracts are accurately administered, compliant with Downer standards, and aligned with program objectives. This is a full-time role with a hybrid of head office and site office-based work, contributing to seamless project delivery across the program.
This role is crucial for maintaining commercial and contractual excellence, timely reporting, and effective program outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and submit variations, progress claims, and contractual notices for head contracts and subcontractors.
- Assist in cost forecasting, commercial reporting, and subcontractor agreement administration.
- Liaise with Project Managers and stakeholders on contractual issues and governance reporting.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with contractual obligations, insurances, and onboarding requirements.
- Maintain accurate commercial documentation, risk registers, and project records.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a detail-oriented, commercially minded professional with strong contract administration skills. You will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in construction management, engineering, accounting, or quantity surveying (preferred).
- Proven experience supporting large project teams and administering contracts in construction or utilities environments.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, risk management, and contract compliance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high attention to detail.
