About the Opportunity
Mackay Regional Council is seeking a qualified Water Treatment Operator to join our Aquatic Facilities team, focusing on the safe and efficient operation of Council's swimming pools and aquatic facilities. This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis for 12 months.
Working independently under remote supervision, you will ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Public Health Act, WorkSafe QLD, and local government regulations. Your expertise will help maintain public health and safety standards through effective water chemistry management, plant room operations, and facility maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain water treatment systems in accordance with regulatory and safety standards.
* Conduct routine water quality testing and maintain accurate records.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality service.
* Promote and uphold Council's values, fostering a culture of safety, respect, and integrity.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
* C Class Driver Licence
* General Construction Induction White Card
* Demonstrated experience in aquatic facility operations or similar environments.
* Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable (not essential):
* Qualifications in water treatment operations:
* Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Pool Plant Operator certification
* Certificate III in Aquatics and Community Recreation or equivalent
