About the role:

Foreign Investment Division are seeking applications from experienced and motivated team members for analyst and investigator positions in the Compliance Enforcement and Regulatory Practice Branch.

Depending on the role, responsibilities and duties may include:

* Supporting compliance activities to help ensure Australia's foreign investment laws are followed.
* Contributing to the assessment and investigation of potential non-compliance matters.
* Analysing compliance issues and recommending follow-up actions.
* Undertaking triage and/or preliminary analysis of compliance reports and referrals.
* Analysing data to identify trends, risks or emerging issues in compliance activity.
* Helping to develop internal guidance and processes to support consistent and effective regulation.

Working under supervision, APS5 Analysts/Investigators and APS6 Senior Analysts/Senior Investigators may:

* Manage a range of cases at one time, including more complex matters, projects or investigations.
* Interpret and apply legislation and regulatory frameworks when assessing complex or specialised issues, to support evidence-based recommendations.
* Contribute to regulatory outcomes by analysing information and data, planning and conducting investigations, gathering evidence, and supporting enforcement processes.
* Contribute to regulatory risk assessments to identify priorities for compliance activities and evaluate their effectiveness.
* Help develop and put in place policies, processes and systems that support the day to day administration of Australia's foreign investment framework.
* Contribute to business improvement initiatives across the branch or division.

APS6 Senior Analysts/Senior Investigators are expected to work with a higher level of independence and take responsibility for managing their work and decision making.

Desirable Skills / Experience

* Experience working with legislation to support regulatory decisions and outcomes.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
* The ability to build positive working relationships and work collaboratively to achieve timely and practical outcomes.
* Well-developed problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
* High attention to detail in analysis and both written and verbal communication.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Sound judgment and resilience to achieve objectives in a fast-paced or challenging environment.
* The ability to work independently, show initiative and deliver results.
* Qualifications in law, accounting, commerce and/or finance are highly regarded but not essential.

The successful applicants are required to have a minimum Baseline security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one. Depending on the roles, successful applicants may be required to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance.
