Senior Engineer Power Systems Consultant
Jacobs is looking for a Senior Engineer Power Systems Consultant to join our specialist Transmission and Distribution Studies team. This role supports steady state and dynamic power system modelling and analysis, earthing and EMT studies, and contributes to major Australian and global energy transition projects.
Responsibilities
* Apply power system fundamentals to practical challenges (operations, protection interactions, compliance).
* Support and progressively lead steady state and dynamic modelling and analysis.
* Produce clear, high‐quality outputs across calculations, models, reports, and presentations.
* Deliver and support engineering studies in earthing and EMT (safety‐critical outcomes).
* Collaborate with senior engineers and specialists to learn best‐practice methods and build technical ownership.
* Utilise AI and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and quality.
Qualifications
* Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent engineering discipline).
* Understanding of electrical engineering principles, basic physics, and control system fundamentals.
* Strong fundamentals in circuit theory and electromagnetism, applied to power system earthing, system operation and protection considerations and, critically, safety.
* Willingness to learn and grow, including taking on new technical and client‐facing responsibilities.
* Adaptability to work across varied tasks from advanced power system modelling and analysis to earthing and EMT studies.
* Exposure or willingness to utilise software packages such as CDEGS, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS E, ETAP.
