The opportunity
We are looking for a Community Engagement Manager who wants to make a real impact on major infrastructure projects and the communities they serve.
In this role you will take ownership of communications and engagement across projects, building trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders and local communities. You will set the direction, lead the conversation and ensure clear open and proactive communication at every stage of delivery.
This is a hands‐on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being close to the work, influencing outcomes and representing the project with confidence.
In this role you will:
* Lead communications and stakeholder engagement across major infrastructure projects
* Be the key point of contact for clients, communities and internal teams
* Shape and deliver communication and engagement strategies that work in practice
* Proactively manage community impacts issues and enquiries
* Support project teams with explicit advice strong messaging and practical solutions
* Represent Downer professionally with government regulators and community groups
What we are looking for
We are seeking a confident communications professional who is comfortable working in complex delivery environments and enjoys building strong relationships.
* A bachelor degree in communications public relations or a related discipline
* Strong experience delivering communications and engagement plans in infrastructure or construction environments
* Proven community and stakeholder engagement experience
* Four or more years relevant industry experience
* Experience leading small teams and managing consultants or agencies
* The ability to manage media enquiries complaints and social media activity
* Strong planning organisation and decision making skills
* A practical collaborative and solutions focused mindset
