MAK Industrial Water Solutions is a national water and wastewater treatment specialist. MAK Water designs and manufactures a wide range of water treatment plants, and supports its customers with a network of service teams across Australia. We are an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of water treatment plants, with a wide range of technologies, and a strong future order book for plants to be installed in Australia and overseas.
THE ROLE
The Financial Controller oversees all financial and administrative operations, including financial reporting and analysis, external audits, cash flow management, supplier review, customer credit control. This role supports strategic decision-making by providing financial insights and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Finally, the role develops, mentors and leads the finance and administration team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage preparation of monthly Management reports and Balance Sheet reconciliations
* Manage external financial audit and preparation of annual financial statements
* Oversee cash flow, working capital, and financial risk management
* Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
* Lead and mentor finance and administration team members
* Manage Accounts Payable/Receivable and oversee Payroll functions
* Collaborate with department heads to align financial planning with business goals
* Implement and maintain financial systems and controls
* Provide financial input into strategic planning and business development
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with CA/CPA qualifications
* Big 4 experience and training
* 5+ years of experience working in a senior financial accounting or controller role
* Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations
* Strong understanding of internal control frameworks and month-end close processes
* Proficiency in financial software / ERP systems
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
* Leadership experience and team management skills
