Carpenter – Leading Hand | Karratha Based
Location: Karratha, WA | Schedule: Monday to Friday | Division: Operations
Are you a trade-qualified Carpenter who takes pride in quality workmanship and has the confidence to step up and lead when it counts? We're looking for a skilled and self-motivated Carpenter – Leading Hand to join our Operations Division in the Pilbara - based right here in Karratha.
This is more than just a tools-in-hand role. You'll be working across a variety of maintenance and construction projects, scoping and quoting minor works, and from time to time stepping into a site supervision capacity - coordinating tradespeople and subcontractors to keep works on track. Responsibilities
* Carry out a wide variety of carpentry, minor works, and building maintenance activities across residential and commercial sites.
* Scope, price, and quote minor works to support project delivery and client service.
* Work alongside internal trades and subcontractors to deliver quality outcomes.
* Step into a leading hand / site supervision role when required - coordinating crews, subcontractors, and daily site activities.
* Manage your work from task assignment through to completion and sign-off.
* Support the team in delivering service contracts that meet client KPIs and expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform carpentry trade works including framing, formwork, fit-out, joinery, doors, windows, cladding, and general maintenance.
* Scope and quote minor works accurately and in a timely manner.
* Supervise and coordinate tradespeople and subcontractors on site when required.
* Interpret and work from plans, drawings, and scopes of work.
* Participate in and deliver Toolbox and Pre-start meetings aligned with safety and company goals.
* Conduct site audits and inspections, maintaining high HSEQ compliance standards.
* Ensure all works meet building codes, quality standards, and company policies.
* Support project scheduling, resource coordination, and job profitability.
* Maintain accurate job records and assist with site documentation and reporting.
* Assist in training and supporting less experienced team members.
* Collaborate with the Operations team on project leads and opportunities.
What We're Looking For
* Trade Qualified Carpenter (Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent) - essential.
* Minimum 2 years post-trade experience in building maintenance, construction, or a similar environment.
* Demonstrated ability to scope and quote minor works independently.
* Demonstrated ability to supervise or lead on-site works, even informally.
* Strong communication and leadership skills - able to direct a team and liaise with subcontractors confidently.
* Solid understanding of building codes, construction quality standards, and HSEQ requirements.
* Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and scopes of work.
* Strong organisational skills and a proactive, can't-stop attitude.
* Current driver's licence (essential).
* White Card and other relevant site safety tickets.
* Comfortable using computer systems for job tracking, scheduling, and reporting.
* Knowledge of local Karratha trades and suppliers (highly regarded).
* Applicant must reside in Karratha WA 6714 - FIFO is not an option.
* Own accommodation in Karratha is a requirement.
