The Ministerial and Parliamentary Support section(MaPS) is one of the main interfaces between the Department and the Minister’s office, undertaking a range of activities to support the Ministers and Departmental executive.

The Section manages parliamentary workflow, which includes ministerial briefings, Cabinet process, responses to parliamentary questions, senate estimates processes, ministerial correspondence, and the parliamentary document management system.

The Cabinet Liaison Office (CLO) coordinates all cabinet matters, supporting the department, portfolio, Ministers' offices, and other agencies. It assists in forecasting and preparing departmental submissions and memoranda, liaising with stakeholders to track progress against milestones. The CLO offers the prospect for staff to be exposed to key Government business, including on high profile, contentious matters and an invaluable insight into the decision-making process of the Cabinet and its committees.

**The occupant of this role will need to be available to work additional hours. Restriction allowance and overtime provisions apply.**

**Duties**

- day-to-day handling of the Portfolio’s Cabinet business;
- manage the department’s Cabinet documents and information via CabNet+;
- facilitate and coordinate the circulation of Cabinet documents to relevant line areas for action and response;
- provide timely advice and support to Departmental officers and senior managers on processes, preparation and timings of Cabinet documents, responses and briefing material;
- liaise and negotiate with other government agencies and departments;
- liaise and negotiate with the our Minister’s Office;
- coordinate regular reporting processes; and
- perform other duties as required across the Ministerial, International and Stakeholder Relations branch.

**Eligibility**

- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 23 months.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
