This role involves working with generous donors to ensure the supply of blood products and delivering an exceptional service in a people-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess potential donors' eligibility and suitability to donate, ensuring they meet the required criteria.
* Provide clinical oversight and guide team members in the blood collection process, promoting efficiency and quality standards.
* Conduct routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests to determine donor suitability.
* Prepare equipment for blood collection, including setting up machines and collections devices.
* Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood and plasma, adhering to strict protocols.
* Respond promptly to adverse donor reactions, providing clear instructions and physical assistance as needed.
* Monitor donors post-donation, assisting them to re-book for their next donation and ensuring a positive experience.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
* Hold a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification.
* Be currently registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
* Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Tuesday to Friday.
* Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
