The Position We’re looking for a forward-thinking Workforce Planner to help design and deliver a contemporary workforce planning approach that supports organisational priorities now and into the future. Reporting to the Team Leader Talent and Organisational Development, you’ll play a key role in building our strategic workforce planning capability. You will partner with leaders, leverage data, and deliver insights that ensure we have the right people, in the right roles, at the right time. Initially, the role will focus on establishing a framework to support talent management, including annualised workforce planning processes, role criticality identification and mapping, and the establishment of succession planning and capability mapping across our talent. This is a unique opportunity to build and influence a key strategic function within a progressive local government organisation. This is a part time opportunity (0.5FTE) for a period of 2 years. Tasks and responsibilities Develop and implement a fit-for-purpose workforce planning framework aligned to local government needs Support the implementation and onboarding of the workforce module within Council’s HR Information System Partner with leaders to understand current and future workforce requirements Deliver high-quality workforce data, insights, and forecasts to support talent decision-making Build a forward-looking view of workforce demand, incorporating trends, demographics, and strategic priorities Provide insights on labour market trends, policy impacts, and talent availability Lead workforce planning activities including stakeholder workshops, data analysis, and presentations Contribute to talent management and organisational planning initiatives Apply design thinking and continuous improvement to evolve workforce planning capability Support the development of program and project resource plans Drive alignment between workforce planning and annual and 4-year planning cycles Qualifications and experience Experience in workforce planning, organisational development, HR analytics, or similar Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to translate insights into action Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels Experience working with HRIS systems and workforce planning tools (desirable) A strategic mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation Strong facilitation and communication skills, including the ability to present complex insights clearly Hours Based on a 17.5 hour week (0.5 FTE), with actual days and times to be negotiated with the Team Leader.
