Role Overview
Senior Manager, General Ledger – Finance and Actuarial team. Key leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating the General Ledger accounting team while ensuring the integrity of financial records.
Responsibilities
* Lead the General Ledger Control team through strategic changes, including transformation & integration projects.
* Enhance the integrity of the General Ledger with emphasis on balance sheet accounts.
* Identify opportunities to integrate and consolidate balance sheet reconciliations and upstream processes.
* Oversee day‐to‐day financial accounting, manage General Ledger integrity and resolve accounting and transactional issues.
* Lead the month‐end general ledger close process in accordance with the Group timetable.
>Manage completion of timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations and exceptions reporting, ensuring follow‐up, reporting and escalation per Group policy.
* Drive initiatives to improve the quality of financial data in the General Ledger to enable enhancements in the integrity of financial reporting.
* Lead and develop the General Ledger team; develop performance objectives and skills development plans.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Accounting (or equivalent) & CA/CPA (or equivalent qualification).
* Previous accounting experience with strong technical accounting knowledge, preferably in insurance/financial services or with a global accounting firm.
* Sound understanding of IFRS 17 / AASB 17 reporting requirements.
* Advanced leadership, organisational and planning skills.
* Excellent people leadership; experience leading a team of direct reports.
* Strong relationship management skills to engage stakeholders and understand their business objectives and requirements.
* Experience leading and driving change‐management initiatives whilst maintaining operational effectiveness and meeting business‐as‐usual deadlines.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Experience with General Ledger systems; knowledge of SAP and Sun Systems is preferred.
