About the Role
Curtin University Health Service consists of a team of dedicated health professionals to meet medical needs. We are an accredited medical practice and strive to deliver quality care, with compassion and commitment. We provide services to enrolled Curtin University students and their community, including students, staff, and eligible family members. We're seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Medical Receptionist to join our fast‐paced, supportive team. In this role you will be the first point of contact for patients and a key contributor to the smooth and efficient operation of the service.
Responsibilities
* Provide a professional and welcoming first point of contact for patients and visitors
* Respond promptly to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders
* Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in line with privacy legislation and university policies
* Co‐manage the reception team and oversee the daily front‐desk workflow
* Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and induction of administration staff
* Perform general administrative duties, including document preparation and correspondence
* Generate reports to support operational needs of the Health Service
* Manage billing, debtors, batching, electronic claims, and bank reconciliations
* Maintain a safe, tidy, and well‐organised reception and waiting area
* Monitor and order office and medical consumables as needed
* Act as Practice Manager when required
* Participate in team meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives
* Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff
Qualifications
* Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in a clear and professional manner
* Demonstrated computer literacy skills in the use of a variety of applications including word processing, spreadsheet and database packages
* Demonstrated experience working with Best Practice Software
* Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
* Demonstrated ability in co‐managing the reception team
* Demonstrated ability to show initiative, work autonomously as well as effectively as a team member
* Demonstrated understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS)
Desirable
* Current First Aid Certificate / Current CPR Certificate
Role Requirements
* As this is a continuing (permanent) role you must have permanent work rights in Australia
* Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin's satisfaction
