About the Role
The Shire of Manjimup is seeking a motivated and reliable caretaker or gardener to assist with the maintenance, presentation, and day‐to‐day upkeep of Heritage Park and other local parks.
Responsibilities
* Maintain existing gardens, grounds and bushland to an agreed standard.
* Assist in the development of new gardens and facilities.
* Clean, maintain and inspect park amenities, including BBQ facilities, signage, furniture and playground equipment.
* Conduct daily inspections of park grounds and playgrounds to identify and report hazards and public safety concerns.
* Maintain buildings, exhibits and other structures within the Heritage Park.
* Maintain good community relationships and report vandalism, safety concerns and other issues as required.
* Operate and maintain plant equipment safely and effectively.
* Undertake daily maintenance of plant and machinery, reporting problems or faults.
* Complete high quality garden works with routine direction, identifying faults and defects.
* Provide short‐term relief supervision to the Property Care Team as required.
Qualifications and Skills
* Demonstrated skills in general maintenance and gardening.
* Experience operating and maintaining small plant equipment safely.
* Basic knowledge of turf and tree management including fertilisers, pesticide and other applications.
* Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Time‐management skills and ability to prioritise tasks with minimal supervision.
* Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean and well‐presented environment.
* Physical ability to lift as required.
* Willingness to undertake training across horticulture, equipment use, construction and safety.
* Completion/progression towards a relevant qualification in horticulture, turf management or equivalent experience.
* Current LR class drivers' licence or willingness to obtain.
Salary and Benefits
Full‐time position, $66,200 to $72,307 per year (plus entitlements). Entry‐level position with training available.
