Build the People Function Behind a National Renewable Energy Business

We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded People & Culture Manager to lead the HR, employee relations, WHS, and learning & development function across a growing national solar installation business operating in NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, and SA.

This is a standalone leadership role with real ownership and influence. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, you'll be responsible for building scalable people systems, strengthening compliance, supporting leaders, and helping shape the culture of a fast-growing business operating in a safety‐critical industry.

If you enjoy autonomy, building structure from the ground up, and partnering closely with operations in a hands‐on environment — this role offers the opportunity to make a visible impact.

About Us

We design, sell, and install residential and commercial solar systems across Australia. Our workforce includes in‐house installers, electricians, accredited subcontractors, and a growing corporate team.

As we continue to scale nationally, we are investing heavily in operational maturity, safety, leadership capability, and people systems to support long‐term growth.

The Opportunity

You'll own the full employee lifecycle across a multi‐state workforce — excluding recruitment, which is managed separately.

This role combines strategic thinking with hands‐on execution across:

* Employee relations and people operations
* WHS coordination and compliance
* Workforce planning and organisational support
* HR systems, reporting, and policy frameworks

You'll work closely with leadership while partnering with managers across field and office teams to create a high‐performing, compliant, and engaged workforce.

People Operations & Employee Relations

* Provide first‐line ER advice and coaching to managers
* Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation
* Coordinate workers compensation and return‐to‐work processes
* Ensure Fair Work and Modern Award compliance
Workforce Planning & Organisational Support
* Partner with leadership on headcount planning and organisational structure
* Support role design and workforce capability planning
* Manage headcount governance and reporting across multiple states
Work Health & Safety (WHS)
* Own and coordinate the internal WHS management system
* Manage incident reporting, compliance tracking, and safety reporting
* Coordinate mandatory training and compliance activities
* Manage the relationship with an external WHS consultancy
* Translate audit findings into practical operational action plans
Learning & Development
* Build onboarding and role‐based capability frameworks
* Coordinate annual training programs across office and field teams
* Manage LMS administration and training compliance reporting
People Systems & Reporting
* Own and administer Employment Hero HRIS workflows and reporting
* Improve automation, reporting, and people processes
* Maintain accurate employee records and compliance documentation
About You
* 5+ years' experience in a generalist HR or People & Culture role
* Strong employee relations and Fair Work knowledge
* Experience managing WHS compliance within construction, trades, field services, or similar industries
* Confidence working across multiple states and stakeholder groups
* Strong written communication and policy development skills
* Experience using HRIS platforms (Employment Hero highly regarded)
* The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‐on delivery
Highly Regarded
* Experience in solar, renewable energy, electrical contracting, construction, or field services
* Qualification in HR, Employment Law, or WHS
* Experience building or scaling people functions
* LMS administration or L&D program design experience
Why Join Us?
* Own and shape the entire people function
* Work directly with senior leadership and influence business decisions
* Build systems, frameworks, and culture from the ground up
* Join a growing renewable energy business with national exposure
* Be part of an industry driving Australia's energy transition
Salary & Benefits
* $110,000 – $120,000 + Super
* Permanent full‐time role
* National business exposure
* High‐growth industry with strong long‐term opportunity
* Autonomy, ownership, and genuine impact
