Project Overview
The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. The project is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people and is owned by Harmony, a global gold and copper mining and development company. Bechtel is delivering Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure.
Job Summary
The Cost Engineer and Reporting position integrates cost engineering principles with data analytics and business intelligence. The role supports project and functional leadership by developing automated dashboards, enhancing cost reporting accuracy, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the project lifecycle.
Major Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost control systems.
* Perform cost variance analysis and support contingency management.
* Integrate cost with schedule and progress measurement.
* Ensure compliance with corporate and client cost management procedures.
* Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards for cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
* Build data models using DAX and Power Query.
* Automate reporting processes by integrating data from ERP, EcoSys, SAP, Primavera P6, and Excel.
* Develop predictive and trend analytics to support proactive decision-making.
* Standardise reporting templates and KPI definitions across projects.
* Ensure data governance, quality, and validation controls.
* Identify opportunities for automation and reporting optimisation.
* Support implementation of digital tools within the Project Controls function.
* Develop data pipelines and structured datasets for enterprise reporting.
* Contribute to development of Power BI standards and governance frameworks.
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related discipline.
* 5+ years of experience in Cost Engineering within EPC, EPCM, or PMC projects.
* Advanced proficiency in Power BI (DAX, data modelling, dashboard design).
* Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).
* Experience integrating cost and schedule data; Primavera P6 knowledge desirable.
