Working closely with our researchers and professional services teams, they provide strategic and operational financial support with budgets, planning, and analysis, enabling us to achieve our mission - to improve the health and wellbeing of children through excellence in research.Join our finance team as our new Financial Controller. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a critical role in the planning, management, development, and monitoring of the Institute's accounting, financial analysis/reporting, and treasury management to ensure optimal effectiveness. This role will assist in delivering high-quality and timely budgeting and financial planning to achieve the Institute's financial goals, as well as ensuring the delivery of a sustainable business model.Typical tasks include:Acting as a "strategic business partner" to organisational heads through the provision of professional advice, analytics, and recommendations which assist planning and decision-making.Ensuring the Finance team provides a customer-focused experience that delivers timely, reliable, and value-adding service and advice to Institute management and staff.Managing external audit relationships, leading the execution of the annual audit process, and delivering all statutory reporting obligations.Preparing and monitoring cash flow forecasts to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.Driving innovation and continuous improvement of all finance and accounting systems, processes, procedures, budgeting, reporting, data management, and analysis.Overseeing fiscal reporting activities for the Institute and ensuring full compliance with regulatory, legal, audit, and governance requirements.Based at Perth Children's Hospital in Nedlands, this role is permanent and offered on a full-time basis.About YouThe ideal applicant will be an enthusiastic finance professional who thrives under pressure while handling competing priorities. Your success will depend on your demonstrated experience in cultivating meaningful relationships based on trust, along with:A tertiary qualification in Commerce or Business and membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, CPA Australia, or working towards membership.Significant experience in a financial, management, or project accounting role.Extensive skills, knowledge, and experience in financial reporting, financial analysis, and providing financial advice (including at the Board level).Excellent knowledge of best practice business management, financial reporting, and accounting principles to support strategic planning and resource allocation.Demonstrated ability to lead business improvement, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives to deliver the best service with available resources.Strong business partnering skills and experience, including effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.We value diversity and inclusion and encourage applicants who meet some, but not all, of the requirements to apply.
