UniSQ is looking for a hands‐on Digital Content Officer to help tell the University's story through strong visual storytelling.
This role is for someone confident behind the camera as much as behind the keyboard – someone who can capture authentic moments, produce engaging photo and video content quickly, and publish confidently across social and digital channels.
If you're social‐media native, visually sharp, and enjoy working at pace to capture events, campus life, and real‐world moments, this role will suit you.
About Media and Strategic Communications
The Media and Strategic Communications team plays a central role in advancing UniSQ's ambition to be Australia's most transformative University. They shape and protect the University's public narrative across media, social, and digital channels, ensuring UniSQ is positioned as a trusted and influential voice in higher education and publicly.
Working closely with academics, students, professional staff, and senior leaders, the team delivers credible, creative storytelling that builds reputation, strengthens engagement, and supports UniSQ's strategic priorities.
About the role
The Digital Content Officer plays a practical, execution‐focused role in delivering content for UniSQ's social media and media channels.
You'll be responsible for capturing, editing, and publishing high‐quality photography and short‐form video, particularly around events, student experience, campus activity, and key University moments. This role requires the ability to work quickly and confidently, producing timely content that capitalises on relevance and engagement.
In addition to visual content, you'll contribute to digital storytelling through article and feature‐style content that supports UniSQ's teaching, research, student, and community stories.
What you'll be doing
* Capturing high‐quality photography and video across campuses, events, and university activities
* Editing and producing short‐form video content optimised for social media platforms
* Creating and publishing day‐to‐day digital and social content with minimal supervision
* Delivering timely content from events and priority moments
* Applying strong editorial judgement to determine what to capture, publish, and amplify
* Monitoring trends and identifying timely content opportunities
* Engaging professionally with audiences through social channels
* Maintaining an organised library of digital assets
* Operating confidently within a governance‐aware, public‐facing environment
* Working flexibly where required
Who we are looking for
You are a digital native and visual storyteller capable of producing content yourself from start to finish. You're comfortable working at pace, adapting quickly, and exercising good judgement in public‐facing environments.
You'll bring:
* Demonstrated hands‐on photography and videography experience, including shooting, editing, and publishing content independently
* A strong portfolio showing clear, well‐composed photography and punchy, contemporary short‐form video
* Experience creating and managing day‐to‐day digital or social media content for an organisation or community
* Demonstrated editorial judgement and storytelling skills
* Experience capturing content in real‐world environments, such as events or campuses
* The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
* Confidence using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Meta Business Suite, Instagram Reels, and TikTok
* Willingness to work flexibly to support events and key moments
