Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated experience in OH&S management, maintenance or a related field, with the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy.
* Proven ability to undertake OH&S tasks, and to effectively engage, coordinate and oversee contractors for works beyond own expertise, ensuring quality outcomes within agreed timelines and budgets.
* Experience in the use of systems such as Microsoft Office, Compass, and DE platforms including AIMS and EduSafe Plus (or the capacity to quickly acquire).
* Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, compliance systems and risk management practices.
Role
The OH&S Manager is responsible for leading the management of the school's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) systems to ensure a safe, compliant and well‐maintained environment for students, staff and visitors. This role is critical within a specialist school environment, requiring a proactive and solutions‐focused approach to maintaining safe and inclusive spaces that meet the diverse needs of students.
Working hours for this role are 3 days a week to be negotiated, 7:00 am to 3:06 pm. Attendance outside of standard hours may be required from time to time. Attendance during school holiday periods may be required and is to be negotiated with the Principal and Business Manager.

Responsibilities
Lead the school's OHS Management System, ensuring compliance with DE OHS policies and guidelines.
Asbestos Management
* Conduct quarterly visual and label inspections of asbestos.
* Liaise with the VSBA regarding any asbestos issues including removal, rectification and reinstatement works.
Contractor Management
* Source, coordinate and oversee external contractors, ensuring works are completed to required standards, within agreed timelines and approved budgets.
* Review quotes and provide recommendations to leadership.
* Ensure all contractors comply with site induction processes, OHS requirements and DET standards.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance works, servicing and associated costs.
Documentation Compliance
* Maintain the hazardous goods registry for the maintenance area and incorporate into the whole school hazardous goods register with the Laboratory Technician.
* Maintain compliant documentation for chemical management, plant and equipment registers, safe work procedures and risk management plans.
* Oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) or Safe Working Method Statement (SWM).
* Carry out, organise or coordinate all mandated inspections and keep detailed records of compliance.
* Induct contractors using the Contractor Management System prior to commencing work; ensure all OHS compliance requirements, certifications and insurance are met.
* Issue and oversee any permits required by contractors.
Regular Servicing and Inspections
* Ensure timely booking of all required servicing and inspections.
* Maintain accurate records of reports from servicing and inspections and upload to AIMS and EduSafe Plus as required.
* Ensure all Safe Working Procedures are completed for all electrical equipment and machinery used by the maintenance department, and that other employees are aware of the statements.
* Undertake any follow‐up work required by the outcome of these processes.
EduSafe Plus and AIMS
* Ensure all tasks required in both portals are completed and relevant documentation is uploaded as evidence of completion.
* Maintain the inspection requirements on AIMS.
Emergency Management
* Assist with the implementation and administration of emergency drills.
* Ensure the School's Emergency Management Plan is updated and submitted annually (or earlier if required).
* Monitor classroom emergency evacuation packs and update when necessary.
