Overview

PSCA, Specified Calling Level 1, $83,456 - $109,860 p.a. plus 12% Superannuation.

Forest Management Branch plays a critical role in shaping the sustainable future of WA's native forests by modelling forest resources, planning ecological thinning, and supporting forest operations. Through advanced remote sensing, natural resource inventories, and disease mapping, FMB monitors forest health across the Southwest. It delivers strategic and operational planning, maintains silvicultural records, and provides expert policy advice and corporate information services – ensuring forest management is guided by science, precision, and long-term vision.

Position

Forest Regeneration and Rehabilitation Officer (Silviculture)

Under limited direction of the Senior Silviculturist, this position:

* Assists the silvicultural program to implement and coordinate regeneration and rehabilitation programs using adaptive management trials and innovative forest operations, while working in a collaborative manner with contractors and stakeholders.
* Undertakes analysis, interpretation and reporting on data collected from monitoring programs and implement work priorities and projects.
* Prepares financial correspondence, reports, assists with program management.
* Works collaboratively with Forest Practices Coordinator and other Forest Practices staff across other programs as required.

Selection Criteria

* Understanding and experience with the operational implementation of sustainable forest management policies, procedures, and practices, including the use of silviculture to achieve management objectives.
* Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with scientific monitoring and the ability to undertake field activities.
* Demonstrated financial management and reporting skills working with operational budget associated with resource and contractual requirements.

Note: applicants will require a tertiary degree in forestry, environmental science, or other relevant qualification.

Pre-commencement and Eligibility
