Synopsis
People Business Partner
Parental backfill (temporary role for 10 months)
Partner with senior leaders to deliver impactful people initiatives
$118,141 - $132,962 plus 12% superannuation

Responsibilities

* The People Business Partner acts as a trusted advisor to leaders, supporting them to deliver on organisational, workforce, and cultural priorities.
* The role builds leader capability, drives proactive workforce planning, and ensures consistent application of HR frameworks, policies, and processes across the organisation.
* As part of the People, Culture and Safety (PCS) uplift, the People Business Partner plays a critical role in shifting HR from a transactional support function to a strategic partner that enables business outcomes, supports organisational change, and strengthens culture and engagement.
* This role plays a key part in delivering impactful outcomes for our community and supporting the strategic goals of the City of Melbourne.
* The People Partnering function strengthens City of Melbourne's capability to deliver the Council Plan and People Strategy by providing integrated, tiered support that connects people, culture and business strategy.
* We partner with leaders to build constructive leadership behaviours, drive safe and inclusive workplaces, enhance employee experience, and enable a high-performing, future‐ready organisation.

What Your Experience Might Look Like

* Demonstrated experience partnering with leaders to deliver strategic and operational HR solutions in a complex, unionised or regulated environment.
* Experience supporting leaders with performance management, development planning, conduct issues, and challenging conversations.
* Experience supporting organisational change processes including structural changes, redeployment, role redesign, and communication planning.
* Strong negotiation and conflict‐resolution skills with the ability to influence outcomes in a complex stakeholder environment.
* Ability to interpret workforce data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to inform planning and decision‐making.
