Overview
Chief Executive Officer for Wanneroo Basketball Association (WBA) – Joondalup Wolves. The CEO provides organisation-wide leadership, implements sound basketball and management strategies, and drives growth, participation and performance across all competitions, teams, players, coaches and officials. The role ensures compliance with statutory and Basketball Australia requirements and alignment with the Board’s direction.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive the organisation’s strategic direction and work with the Board to plan and execute business strategies, focusing on commercial growth, member growth, venue identification and continuous improvement of all club competitions, programs and products.
* Provide informed advice, risk analysis and financial reporting to support Board decision-making.
* Represent the Association at WABL and NBL1 meetings, ensuring compliance and good governance.
* Oversee contract management and compliance frameworks across the association.
* Organise and prepare the Annual General Meeting and other Association membership meetings.
* Attend Board meetings to present and discuss operational and strategic matters.
* Ensure the Association’s Constitution and By-Laws are reviewed, up to date and in effect at all times, providing a clear and robust governing framework.
* Manage the performance and development of all staff and programs of the Association and act as spokesperson where appropriate.
* Represent the interests of WBA with stakeholders to ensure best-practice stakeholder management and sound professional relationships.
* Manage relationships and procedures with Board Members, including administration and timely creation and distribution of Board documentation.
* Drive and deliver the Association’s brand and marketing requirements, protect and grow brand position, and build brand equity.
* Seek commercial partnerships, grant funding and other new revenue streams to deliver WBA objectives while maintaining existing relationships.
* Develop and deliver a venue procurement strategy to support growth and expansion of WBA competitions, programs and products.
* Lead the NBL1 program strategy and delivery with planning and allocation of resources for sustainable, long-term success.
* Lead all aspects of relationship management with facility providers, including planning, negotiating and managing relationships for organisational benefit.
* Policy development for all aspects of WBA Operations and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
* Ensure budgets, OH&S, risk management and customer service policies and procedures are in place and adhered to.
* Take direction from the President as applicable.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* Tertiary degree in Sports Management and/or Business.
* Previous basketball experience.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Previous experience in a senior management/leadership role.
* Previous sports industry experience – or similar.
* Demonstrated success in strategic planning, operations and governance reporting.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills across stakeholders.
* Proven financial acumen budgeting, forecasting, P&L and audit processes.
* Proven leadership of teams delivering high-quality programs and services.
* Current Working with Children’s Check (WWC).

Typical Experience
* Minimum 5 years intensive sporting/business experience.
