Join our team as a Planning Assistant and take your first meaningful step into a rewarding career in public transport planning. In this entry‐level role, you'll contribute to projects that help shape how people move across the State, while building on the technical knowledge gained through your studies. You'll support a range of land use planning activities across projects of varying scale, gaining valuable exposure to strategy development, stakeholder engagement, technical assessment, and reporting in a real‐world environment.

We're looking for a motivated and curious individual with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. To succeed in this role, you will hold, or be currently working towards, a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline. You'll bring sound analytical and research abilities, attention to detail, and the initiative to review information and contribute to planning outcomes. If you're organised, confident using common computer applications, committed to safety, and eager to grow your career in planning, we'd love to hear from you.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

* Sound communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) including the ability to liaise with individuals in a variety of contexts and work as a team member.
* Proven ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.
* Demonstrated analytical, research and evaluation skills.
* Good level of initiative and problem‐solving skills.
* Ability to review documentation, distil key points and ideas and apply them to processes and procedures.

There are currently two fixed‐term opportunities available to 31 December 2028, with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency. This is a pool recruitment process where suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months.

To be eligible to work at the PTA you must be either an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or hold a valid work visa until 31 December 2028.
